Assigning Galleries to Albums

In Robo Gallery, albums are not a separate object type.

Albums are simply galleries that contain other galleries using the Album Hierarchy system.

This means that every album you create is actually just a parent gallery, and sub-galleries become the album’s content.

1. Understanding How Albums Work

In Robo Gallery:

  • Gallery → can contain images
  • Album → a gallery that contains other galleries

So an album is simply a parent gallery in the hierarchy.

Example structure:

Portfolio (Album)
 ├ Travel Gallery
 ├ City Gallery
 ├ Nature Gallery
 └ Architecture Gallery

The Portfolio gallery becomes the album.

2. Opening Album Hierarchy

To assign galleries to albums:

  1. Open any gallery
  2. Locate the Album Hierarchy panel
  3. Click Edit

Album Hierarchy Panel

3. Organizing Galleries

Inside the hierarchy editor you can move galleries to create a structure.

Album Hierarchy Panel

You can:

  • Drag galleries into parent galleries
  • Create multi-level hierarchy
  • Organize complex album structures

Example:

Travel (Album)
 ├ Europe
 │ ├ Italy
 │ └ France
 └ Asia
    ├ Thailand
    └ Japan

4. Saving the Structure

After organizing galleries:

  1. Click Save
  2. The hierarchy will be applied instantly
  3. Your albums will appear on the front-end

5. How Assigned Galleries Appear on the Website

The appearance depends on the gallery version.

Version 3 (Classic Grid)

Assigned galleries appear as navigation menu above thumbnails.

Users switch between albums using the menu.

Albums appear inside the gallery as folders.

Users can click an album to open its gallery.

Features include:

  • Folder icons
  • Album cover images
  • Breadcrumb navigation
  • Multi-level navigation

6. Best Practices

  • Use one root gallery as the main album
  • Organize galleries logically
  • Avoid too many hierarchy levels
  • Use clear album names

Example structure:

Portfolio
 ├ Web Design
 ├ Branding
 ├ Photography
 └ Motion

7. Important Note

Since albums are just galleries in hierarchy, you do not need to create a special album type.

Simply:

  1. Create galleries
  2. Arrange them in Album Hierarchy

Robo Gallery will automatically treat parent galleries as albums.

Summary

To assign galleries to albums:

  1. Open Album Hierarchy
  2. Move galleries into parent galleries
  3. Save the structure

Parent galleries automatically become albums, organizing your content into a clear and structured gallery system.
