Top Menu

The Top Menu allows visitors to navigate between galleries, categories, or albums directly above the thumbnails grid.

How it works depends on whether you are using Classic or Fusion gallery type.

Classic Gallery – Top Menu

In the Classic version, the Top Menu is based on the gallery hierarchy structure.

You can build a hierarchy of galleries using drag & drop.

Classic Albums Hierarchy

Simply drag galleries under a parent gallery to create nested levels.

This structure defines how the Top Menu will be displayed.

2. Enabling Menu in Classic

Go to:

Menu Options → Menu → Show

Classic Menu Options

Enable the menu and configure:

  • Menu Mode (Categories / Tags)
  • Root Label
  • Labels visibility
  • Search option
  • Menu Style
  • Colors
  • Alignment
  • Padding

3. Front-End Result

When hierarchy is configured and menu is enabled, the Top Menu appears above thumbnails.

Classic Top Menu Frontend

The menu reflects the drag-and-drop structure created in the backend.

Fusion Gallery – Top Menu

In Fusion, album structure is managed differently.

Instead of drag & drop inside the post list, Fusion uses the Albums Hierarchy widget.

1. Albums Hierarchy Widget (Fusion)

Albums Hierarchy Widget

This widget defines:

  • Parent → Child album relationships
  • Album nesting levels
  • Root gallery behavior

Fusion automatically generates navigation based on this structure.

2. Top Menu Mode (Fusion)

Go to:

Navigation → Top Menu Mode

Fusion Top Menu Mode

Available modes:

  • Off
  • Compact (Inline)
  • Wide

This controls how albums are displayed above thumbnails.

Fusion allows control over how the root gallery appears:

  • Show Title
  • Custom Label
  • Hide

Key Difference: Classic vs Fusion

Feature Classic Fusion
Hierarchy creation Drag & Drop in gallery list Albums Hierarchy widget
Menu type Categories / Tags Album-based navigation
Top menu control Menu Options panel Navigation → Top Menu Mode
Structure logic Manual hierarchy Structured album system

Best Practices

  • Use Classic when you want simple category/tag filtering.
  • Use Fusion when building multi-level album structures.
  • Keep hierarchy clean and logical.
  • Avoid too many nested levels for better UX.
  • Combine Top Menu with Breadcrumbs for better navigation clarity.

The Top Menu is a powerful navigation tool that transforms a simple gallery into a structured visual content system.
