Using Galleries in Widget

Robo Gallery allows you to display galleries not only inside posts and pages, but also in widget areas such as sidebars, footers, and custom widget sections provided by your theme.

This is especially useful for showcasing portfolios, featured images, or promotional galleries across the entire website.

Where Widgets Are Used

Widgets are typically displayed in:

  • Sidebars
  • Footers
  • Header widget areas
  • Custom widget areas created by your theme

The exact widget locations depend on the active WordPress theme.

Robo Gallery includes a built-in Gallery Widget, which allows you to insert a gallery without using shortcodes.

  1. Go to Appearance → Widgets
  2. Choose the widget area where you want to display the gallery
  3. Add the Robo Gallery widget
  4. Select an existing gallery from the dropdown list
  5. Save the widget

That’s it — the selected gallery will immediately appear in the widget area.

This is the easiest and most user-friendly way to display galleries in widgets.

If you prefer using shortcodes, Robo Gallery also works perfectly with standard WordPress widgets.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Go to Appearance → Widgets
  2. Select the widget area
  3. Add one of the following widgets:
    • Shortcode widget (recommended)
    • Custom HTML widget
    • Text widget (Classic Widgets)
  4. Paste your gallery shortcode, for example: [robo-gallery id=22]
  5. Save the widget

Each gallery has a unique shortcode.

  1. Open Robo Gallery → Manage Galleries
  2. Find the gallery in the list
  3. Copy the shortcode from the Shortcode column

You can reuse the same shortcode in multiple widget areas.

Widget Layout Recommendations

When using galleries inside widgets, keep in mind:

  • Widget areas usually have limited width
  • Use fewer columns for better readability
  • Avoid very large image sizes
  • Fusion Grid (V5) adapts well to narrow containers

Recommended settings:

  • 1–2 columns
  • Medium or Thumbnail image size
  • Minimal spacing between images

Using Multiple Galleries in Widgets

You can add multiple galleries by:

  • Placing several widgets in the same widget area
  • Using different widget areas across the site
  • Reusing the same gallery in different locations

Each gallery keeps its own settings and layout.

Performance Tips

  • Avoid very large galleries in sidebars
  • Use optimized image sizes
  • Enable gallery caching in Robo Gallery settings
  • Limit animations in narrow widget areas

Common Issues

Gallery does not appear in widget

  • Make sure the gallery is published
  • Check that the correct gallery is selected in the widget
  • Clear cache (WordPress and browser)
  • Ensure the widget area is visible in your theme

Using galleries in widgets is a powerful way to enhance your website layout and highlight visual content beyond regular pages and posts.
