Creating Your First Gallery
Creating a gallery in Robo Gallery is a simple and intuitive process. In just a few steps, you can create a new gallery, upload images, customize its appearance, and publish it on your website.
This guide walks you through the entire process — from creating a gallery to displaying it on the front end.
Step 1: Create a New Gallery
You can create a new gallery in two ways:
- From the WordPress admin menu: Robo Gallery → Add New Robo Gallery
- Or by clicking the Add New Robo Gallery button on the gallery list page
Once clicked, a dialog window will open where you can select the gallery type.
Step 2: Choose a Gallery Type
Robo Gallery supports multiple gallery types, including both free and premium layouts.
- Select the gallery type that best fits your use case
- Each gallery type has its own layout behavior and configuration options
- You can always change the gallery type later using the Change Gallery Type button
After selecting the type, click Create Gallery to proceed.
Step 3: Add Images to the Gallery
After the gallery is created, you can start adding images.
- Click the Manage Images button
- Upload new images or select existing images from the WordPress Media Library
- Images will be added directly to the gallery instance
You can drag and drop images to reorder them at any time.
Step 4: Configure Image Options (Optional)
Each image in the gallery can have its own settings, such as:
- Title
- Caption
- Description
- Alt text
- Tags
- Link (PRO)
- Video link (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.)
These options allow you to mix different behaviors in the same gallery:
- Images opening in a lightbox
- Images linking to external pages
- Images opening videos in a lightbox
This gives you complete creative freedom when building galleries.
Step 5: Configure Gallery Settings
Below the image section, you will find the gallery settings panel.
Here you can configure:
- Layout and grid behavior
- Responsiveness and mobile settings
- Thumbnail sizes and spacing
- Navigation and lightbox options
- Sorting and ordering rules
Robo Gallery automatically adapts the gallery layout to different screen sizes, from mobile devices to ultra-wide and retina displays.
Step 6: Save and Publish the Gallery
Once everything is configured:
- Enter a gallery title
- Click Update Gallery or Publish
- Your gallery is now ready to use
You can preview the gallery instantly using the generated permalink.
Step 7: Insert the Gallery on Your Website
There are several ways to display your gallery on the front end:
- Shortcode Copy the generated shortcode and paste it into any post or page
- Gutenberg Block Use the Robo Gallery block in the block editor
- Elementor Widget Insert the gallery using the Robo Gallery widget
- PHP Template (Advanced) Embed the gallery directly in theme templates
